What is Domiciliary Care?

Domiciliary Care is where individuals and families are supported with assisted living help tailored to their specific requirements and habits in the comfort of their own home.

Domiciliary Care, also known as home care, is a viable option for a residential care facility. This type of care at home allows individuals who require varying levels of assistance (due to illness, long-term medical concerns, or age) to live in their own homes independently or for longer than previously possible.

Domiciliary Care (dom care) can range from a one-hour visit to a Care Pro living with you 24 hours a day.

We explore the various options available to assess and agree on how we can help your loved one remain living in the comfort of their home for as long as possible.

What Does Domiciliary Care Involve?

Domiciliary Care involves a range of daily living tasks. Our Care Pros can provide companionship, emotional support, and physical assistance with everyday tasks such as:

  • Household tasks
  • Cooking
  • Medication assistance and management
  • Cleaning and laundry
  • Bathing and personal care
  • Dressing
  • Pet care
  • Companionship
  • Specialist care such as dementia care, palliative care, overnight care & live-in care

We can also assist with the monitoring of health conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure.

Here at Kenyarcher Care, we make it possible to stay in the comfort of your home while receiving the level of support you need. Our Care Pros are kind and compassionate individuals who will go above and beyond to deliver care with the dignity and respect you deserve.

What are the benefits of Domiciliary Care?

The real benefit of DomiciliaryCare is that it is provided in your own home, avoiding the need to move into a care home or residential senior living facility.

Other advantages include the fact that Domiciliary Care Services are usually less expensive than residential care.

With our visiting care, you are receiving one-to-one personalised support because you pay by the hour and don’t have the expense of paying for the facility you are cared for in.

Who is Domiciliary Care for?

Domiciliary Care is a service provided to older adults with temporary or long-term care requirements that need assistance with activities, mental health, and medical conditions.

Types of Domiciliary Care services

Companionship care:

Domiciliary care can begin with something as simple as someone dropping in for a cup of tea and a talk. This is known as companionship care, and it often entails a social visit, shopping assistance, and occasionally engaging in activities and hobbies. It is vital in helping to avoid the health issues that social isolation can cause and is a great way to introduce professional care ahead of the need for any additional support needs that may develop.

Home help & support:

A Care Pro will come to your home as often as you would like to assist you with the following day-to-day activities:

  • Companionship
  • Medication management
  • Household chores
  • Light housekeeping
  • Meal prep
  • Running errands
  • Social activities

And other tasks that help you maintain your home,

This will help to ensure a safe and healthy living environment is maintained along with appropriate nutrition and hydration to avoid illness and potential hospitalisation.

Domiciliary Care with two CAREGivers:

We can provide domiciliary care with two Care Pros if you require assistance getting in and out of bed or walking—an ideal solution for those who need around-the-clock supervision.

Multiple care visits per day:

Many of our clients introduce the idea of care to their loved ones and enjoy multiple visits per day from their Care Pro. You can select the times you feel would be most beneficial. For example, meal times, bathing times, bedtimes.

Live-in: CAREGiver

Live-in care is where a trained Care Pro moves into your home to provide care when it is needed. Live-in care is an excellent option for those who want to provide their loved ones with the best possible care. It’s also perfect for people who are unable to leave their homes or have difficulty getting around. We offer live-in care at home, which means that our Care Pros will be there when your loved one needs them most.

24-hour Care:

24-hour care at home requires two or more Care Pros to work 12-hour shifts. The evening Care Pro stays awake through the night, whereas the day shift Care Pro will provide support throughout the day.

Overnight Care

Our overnight Care Pros are trained and experienced in providing quality, compassionate and professional care for those who need it most. They will ensure that your routine is maintained throughout the night so you can sleep soundly, knowing they’re there for you.

Why choose Domiciliary Care over a care home?

Domiciliary Care Clients receive personalised and dedicated attention in their own homes, including assistance with all their daily activities and personal needs providing companionship, specialised care, offering protection for fall prevention and emergency response by calling emergency services when necessary.

Domiciliary Care is typically a more affordable option than a care home or assisted living facility.

In addition, it also gives flexibility for families to spend more time with their loved one.

What is the difference between Domiciliary Care services and residential care?

Simply put, domiciliary care is delivered in a person’s own home, whereas residential care entails remaining continuously in a specialised facility designed to provide care.

Is home care better than residential care?

Those who require nursing care may have care demands that are too severe to be met in a domestic environment, so residential care is usually a better alternative than domiciliary care.

Many people do not require residential care but have previously lived in a residential home or sheltered housing due to a lack of knowledge about care options at home. Domiciliary care provides comfort and allows individuals to stay in their home surrounded by memories and familiar items collected throughout the years.

This type of care is better as it encourages Clients to continue living independently and remain close to loved ones and friends.

What does a Domiciliary CAREGiver do?

A domiciliary care provider, also known as a Care Pro, is trained or has experience providing care for others in their homes. When someone needs assistance to live independently at home, a Care Pro can help support them.

A Care Pro can live full time in your home by gradually transferring tasks, including cooking meals and helping with chores around the house.

Tasks could include:

  • Household tasks
  • Cooking
  • Medication assistance and management
  • Cleaning and laundry
  • Bathing and personal care
  • Dressing
  • Pet care
  • Companionship
  • Specialist care such as dementia care, live-in care, pa
